I certainly appreciate Leithart's criticism on modern theology's skewed understanding of Christianity. Because of our ignorance of the OT - our failure to recognize God's engagement in the world and throughout history - we've squared Christianity away into our own little personal boxes, our own private relationships with God. But no, no, no - our God is much bigger than that. He's a God that is not only at work in the lives of the individual, but is engaged in the workings of the nations. Mm.. yes.
Jewish.. not those who are blood descendants of Abraham. This certainly clears up some things for us. Makes a lot more sense than the "the Jews failed so God let the Gentiles in" explanation. God's covenant was intended for all of us, even from the beginning.
Anyway, this will be exciting! I'm definitely guilty of feigning to know OT history, but actually not knowing anything at all.. and for always gravitating towards the epistles. Tis shameful, shortchanging the richness of the gospel. =\
